Five tips for caring for your Audi

For anybody who has ever driven an Audi, or been a passenger in one, you’ll no doubt understand why they’re the market leaders in automotive luxury, performance and longevity.  Because let’s face it, when it comes to European style and class, those four silver interlocking rings say an awful lot.

If you’re lucky enough to own an Audi, we’re sure you’ll want to do everything in your power to ensure your pride and joy is fully maintained and kept in mint condition.  And that includes undertaking a regular service and any necessary repairs with a reputable Audi mechanic.

Here in Perth, the team at Elite Euro are the Audi specialists when it comes to servicing European cars. We’ve put together a list of five top tips for caring and maintaining your Audi.

1. Changing the oil

Regularly checking and changing out the oil and oil filter in your Audi is one of the simplest yet most important steps you can take when it comes to preventative maintenance.    Flushing out your car system’s fluids on a regular basis can help avoid breakdowns and keep your Audi running for years to come.

A regular oil change helps prevent the build-up of too much dirt and sludge in your engine, allowing your Audi to run as efficiently and effectively as possible.  Not only that, it will add extra mileage to each trip, meaning you’ll need to fill up less at the petrol bowser (and keep some money in your pocket).

2. Regular servicing

Everybody knows that proper regular servicing is the best way to take care of your car.  Choosing a mechanic who specialises in Audi services is a sure-fire way to ensure your prized possession will be taken care of properly.

Audis need a little more TLC than other makes, and that means having somebody who has all the latest technology and specialty parts at their fingertips once they’re under the bonnet.

A regular service with your Audi mechanic will include filter replacements, pressure checks, and the use of genuine or OEM parts.  Any signs of potential issues, such as a transmission repair, battery replacement or wheel re-alignment, will be immediately brought to your attention by your mechanic.

3. Checking wheel alignment

Regardless of whether it’s for the front, rear or all four wheels, having your wheels regularly aligned is an important part of maintaining your car.

Wheel alignments are simple and affordable, and with Elite Euro’s automated calibration machine, we’ll get you back on the road in no time.  As part of a wheel alignment, we check all bearings, tyres, ball joints and other parts of the suspension to see what needs to be replaced

So if you find your Audi’s tyre treads are wearing unevenly, the steering wheel is pulling you either right or left, or your steering and handling is increasingly becoming irksome, these are all signs you need to head to your Audi mechanic for a wheel alignment, stat.

4. Using the right fuel

And by the right fuel, we mean premium fuel.  What can a superior fuel do for your Audi?  A whole lot.  Premium fuel contains additional additives and detergents that regular petrol does not, meaning your car’s engine will run cleaner.

Using regular petrol can cause all sorts of issues for your Audi, including damage to pistons and other engine parts, a decrease in fuel economy and an overall decline in engine performance.

Audi themselves recommend high-quality petrol because they know that their car’s sophisticated fuel systems simply work more optimally with a higher octane fuel.  And we’re not going to argue with them.

5. Cleanliness

Keeping everything working under the hood is just a part of looking after your vehicle.  Maintaining your Audi’s elegant outward appearance is also important.

For interiors, we suggest the use of high-quality mats and carpet to maintain the longevity of your car’s flooring.  Regularly vacuum up any dirt, leaves, sand and food scraps from the floors and seats to prevent it working its way down into the fibres, and attend to any spills on the upholstery immediately.

For exteriors, a regular wash and wax of your car’s duco will keep it looking sleek and well looked-after.  Ensure that any scratches are touched up with a matching duco paint.
